Rambo's Rundown

A Message from Dr. Ron Jackson

Welcome to the November edition of Ram-Bo’s Rundown!

As we move deeper into the semester, the days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping, and the semester is moving quickly toward the finish line. November is a great time to pause, check in with yourself, and make sure you have what you need to finish the semester strong.

And sometimes, what you need has nothing to do with a textbook or a classroom.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce Ram-Bo’s Relief Hub, a new resource managed by the Office of Student Affairs Basic Needs Team. The Relief Hub brings together information about resources and support available to help you navigate challenges that can affect your ability to be successful at Farmingdale State College.

Through Ram-Bo’s Relief Hub, students can find information and assistance related to:

  • Food Insecurity Support, including grocery vouchers and on-campus meal support
  • Housing Insecurity Support
  • Student Advocacy
  • General Needs Voucher Assistance
  • Emergency Needs Support
  • Other basic needs resources and campus support

We are also excited to offer two new Basic Needs supports.

  1. General Needs Voucher Assistance is designed to provide additional support to students who may benefit from basic needs assistance, complementing our existing food insecurity supports.

  2. Emergency Needs Support is a grant-funded resource designed to assist students experiencing an unexpected emergency that may affect their ability to remain enrolled and succeed in school.

Both supports are need-based, and applications are available through RamCentral. You must sign in to access the applications.

The most important message is simple: You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a step toward staying on track and reaching your goals. As members of the Ramily, we want you to know that you matter, your success matters, and we are here to help you navigate the challenges that may come your way. If you have questions about basic needs resources or support, please reach out to our Basic Needs Team at basicneeds@farmingdale.edu.

So, as we head into November, take care of yourself, take care of one another, stay connected, and remember to Reach. Achieve. Matter.

Have a great month, Rams!

Understanding the Title IX Process
The Title IX Office is committed to providing a supportive, respectful, and trauma-informed response to students who experience or report sex-based harassment, discrimination, or violence. When a report is received, students are invited to meet with our Title IX Coordinator, Kathleen Flynn to discuss their concerns, learn about available resources, and explore supportive measures, such as academic accommodations, counseling referrals, housing adjustments, or no-contact directives. Supportive measures are available regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed. Throughout the process, the Title IX Coordinator works to ensure students are informed, supported, and connected to resources that help maintain their access to education. We all play a role in creating a safer campus community. If you witness concerning behavior, consider safely intervening, checking in with the affected person, and connecting them with resources. Bystander intervention can help prevent harm, support those impacted, and foster a culture of care, accountability, and respect. For more information or to make a report, contact the Title IX office at titleix@farmingdale.edu, 934-420-5772, or via the Title IX (Sexual Misconduct) Reporting form at the "Learn More" button below.
