To Faculty and Staff:
The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service recognizes individuals
for consistently superior professional achievement within and beyond their position.
Nominees for the award must have repeatedly sought improvement of themselves, their
campuses, and ultimately the State University and, in doing so, have transcended the
normal definitions of excellence. As we await the updated criteria for the next award
cycle, you may reference the previous cycle’s criteria here, SUNY's criteria.
In compliance with SUNY guidelines, under no circumstances may individuals apply or
self-nominate for these awards.
All initial letters of nomination are to be addressed to the Selection Committee and
sent to Lauren Romer, Assistant to the Provost, romerle@farmingdale.edu, by no later than August 16, 2021.
Eligibility Criteria & Candidate Background - Candidates must presently be serving
in full-time professional capacities (not necessarily titles) with more than 50 percent
of their assignment in non-teaching services. The Professional Service award is reserved
for staff working full-time within their nominating campus. Full-time faculty are
not eligible. In addition, support staff not serving in professional class titles
are ineligible for nomination.
Local Selection Committee Requirements for Professional Service: Candidates must have
at least five academic years of service to the College.
The College has been fortunate to have many professional staff members earn these
prestigious awards in the past. I strongly encourage you to nominate deserving colleagues
for this recognition. Visit this link for a list of previous recipients.
Again, all initial letters of nomination are to be addressed to the Selection Committee
and sent to Lauren Romer, Assistant to the Provost, romerle@farmingdale.edu, by no later than August 16, 2021.
