To the Campus Community:
I am pleased to invite members of the campus community to submit nominations for the
prestigious Chancellor's Awards and nominations for the Distinguished Faculty Rank
program.
In compliance with SUNY guidelines, under no circumstances may individuals apply or
self-nominate for these awards.
All initial letters of nomination are to be addressed to the Selection Committee and
sent to Lauren Romer, Assistant to the Provost, romerle@farmingdale.edu, by no later than August 16, 2021.
Chancellor's Awards for Faculty Excellence Recipients of these awards embody SUNY's highest standards to inspire and serve as
role models for the entire academic community. The awards provide SUNY-wide recognition
in five categories: Faculty Service, Teaching, Librarianship, and Scholarship and Creative Activities. As we await the updated criteria for the next award cycle, you may reference the
previous cycle’s criteria here, SUNY's criteria.
Local Selection Committee Requirements for Faculty Excellence Categories: Nomination for Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Faculty Service, Teaching, Librarianship
Scholarship and Creative Activities, the local Selection Committee further requires
nominees to be tenured faculty members or non-tenured track faculty (not preceded
by Visiting) who have served a minimum of eight years at Farmingdale State College.
Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching This award marks an important expansion of the Chancellor's Award program to recognize
excellence in teaching among adjuncts at the graduate, undergraduate, and professional
level. The primary criterion is skill in teaching.
Local Selection Committee Requirements for Adjunct Teaching: Any adjunct faculty members nominated for this award are required to submit student
evaluations in the form of student questionnaires or surveys administered and compiled
by persons other than the nominee.
Distinguished Faculty Ranks Only faculty members holding the rank of full librarian or full professor are eligible
for this award. The faculty selected under this program represent the State University's
pride and gratitude for consummate professionalism, groundbreaking scholarship, exceptional
instruction and breadth and significance of service contributions. The three categories
of Distinguished Faculty Ranks are, Distinguished Service, Distinguished Teaching
and Distinguished Librarian. Here are SUNY's criteria.
Local Selection Committee Requirements for Distinguished Faculty Ranks: The local Selection Committee further requires nominees who are tenured full professors
for a minimum of five years, who have served a minimum of ten years at Farmingdale
State College, and who have previously received a Chancellor's Award for Excellence.
The College is fortunate to have so many faculty who’ve earned these prestigious awards
in the past. I strongly encourage you to nominate deserving colleagues for recognition.

Again, all initial letters of nomination are to be addressed to the Selection Committee
and sent to Lauren Romer, Assistant to the Provost, romerle@farmingdale.edu, by no later than August 16, 2021.
