Dear Farmingdale Student:
Planning for the Fall 2021 semester is well underway. Safety will remain the College’s
top concern as we return to campus. We are pleased to advise that we intend to provide
every student with a substantial on-campus presence, while recognizing that public health or regulatory factors may require adjustments. Our Fall 2021 course schedule is designed to provide the necessary flexibility to
adapt to changing circumstances.
Here are the key parts of the fall plan:
- We anticipate a return to a full range of face-to-face courses along with our traditional
online and hybrid courses. We expect SUNY to authorize a return to full on-campus
instruction.
- Until such authorization is received, on-campus courses will initially be offered
as alternating on an A/B week basis. Students scheduling courses for the Fall 2021 semester will register for on-campus
sessions in either the A or B week. Students will alternate weeks between face-to-face classes and live-streamed classes
throughout the semester. For example, for any given class, a student will physically
be in a classroom for one week of classes, and then receive the course via a livestream
the next week.
- Please note: Once SUNY authorization is received, the College will immediately convert
all A/B designated courses to fully campus-based instruction. This would eliminate
alternating weeks and require students in A/B designated classes to be on campus for
in-person instruction every week. Students will be expected to be actively engaged in all classes.
- Students are expected to wear masks while on campus.
- Farmingdale will require pre-semester COVID testing and regular testing throughout
the semester.
- We intend to house at least 400 students on campus. Priority will be given to students
who reside 40 or more miles from campus and those enrolled in projects requiring extensive
on-campus presence. If you desire to reside on campus, please visit https://www.farmingdale.edu/residence-life/. A submitted application does not guarantee housing. In the event of a resurgence
of COVID, spaces have been designated for quarantine and isolation.
We urge students, faculty, and staff to receive the COVID vaccine prior to their return to
campus in the fall. SUNY and the State of New York have now opened vaccination sites
to New Yorkers aged 16 years and older. A student's ability to engage fully in campus
life may depend on proof of vaccination.
Please regularly check the College’s COVID Hub and your email for updated information. You will receive further details regarding
registration in a communication from the Registrar’s office next week. Fall registration
will begin on April 19.
We look forward to seeing you on campus in the fall.
