Washington, DC - Farmingdale State College and TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for immigrant youth, today announced a new partnership to provide scholarships for New York immigrant youth to achieve their higher education dreams. Farmingdale is the first TheDream.US Partner College on Long Island and the first institution in the State University of New York (SUNY) system - the largest public higher education system in the country. The partnership is consistent with SUNY’s and Farmingdale State College’s long-standing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The new partnership announcement follows the recent opening of TheDream.US new Scholarship round for the 2022-2023 academic year, which started on November 1, 2021, and will run through the end of February 2022. For this year’s application round, TheDream.US has announced a goal to enroll 1,500 new National Scholars - a 50 percent increase in scholarships awarded compared to past Scholarship rounds. Visit TheDream.US National Scholarship website for application and eligibility information.

To reach this ambitious goal, TheDream.US has updated its Scholarship eligibility criteria to allow more DREAMers to apply. Applications are open to immigrant youth with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2016. We welcome all undocumented students who meet our eligibility criteria to apply. New York Scholars interested in applying to Farmingdale State College would apply for TheDream.US National Scholarship, to support DREAMers who are first-time college students or community college graduates in their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. The award covers tuition, fees, books, and supplies of up to $37,000 for first-time college students and $31,000 for community college graduates.

President of Farmingdale State College, John S. Nader, PhD stated, “Farmingdale State College and TheDream.US share a common mission. This partnership underscores the College’s long and successful commitment to reach talented students who often lack opportunity. That is why this affiliation is such a point of pride for Farmingdale State College. As a leading engine of opportunity for students in the region and in SUNY, we are particularly proud to be partnering with TheDream.US.”

According to Candy Marshall, president of TheDream.US: “We are grateful for the new partnership with Farmingdale State College to provide additional New York DREAMers the opportunity to pursue their higher education and career dreams. Time and time again, our graduates’ successes show why expanding access to higher education and stabilizing DREAMers’ futures is good for our country. Despite the many obstacles DREAMers face, they continue to persevere and work hard to achieve their education goals and pursue a meaningful career. We want to thank Farmingdale State College and the rest of our Partner Colleges in New York and across America for giving immigrant youth the opportunity to pursue their higher education and career dreams and contribute to the future of our country.”
