November 17, 2021
To Faculty and Staff:
The College is once again planning to reduce expenses and conserve energy by maintaining
services to a minimum number of buildings during the holiday break. In an effort to
maximize energy savings and promote sustainability, we will be closing most campus
buildings on Friday evening, December 24, 2021 through and including Sunday, January 2, 2022. All campus buildings will reopen for normal operations at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, January
3, 2022.
As usual during this timeframe, all staff are encouraged to utilize vacation, holiday,
or compensatory leave credits to take time to rest and rejuvenate ahead of the new
year. Physical Plant and University Police staff must check with their immediate supervisors
regarding their work status through this period.
This year, an alternate work location on campus will not be made available. For members
of the Professional or Classified staffs without sufficient leave credits, or who
wish to work during the break, the Winter Break Request to Work Remotely Form must be submitted by Friday, December 3. Supervisors must ensure that employees have appropriate equipment, an internet connection,
and sufficient work tasks to complete remotely. Be sure to take personal items and
work materials you may need when you leave work on December 24. You will be unable
to access your office during this time.
Please contact Human Resources, ext. 2107, with any questions regarding the break
period and/or the use of leave credits. Note that there are five (5) working days
during the break this year, so ensure that you have sufficient vacation or holiday
time accruals to charge appropriately.
Departments should be certain to leave a message on their telephone voice mails explaining
that Farmingdale State College will be closed from the evening of Friday, December
24, 2021 and will reopen on Monday, January 3, 2022 as part of its energy-saving program.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.
