To Faculty and Staff:
In line with our efforts to improve service and increase efficiency we are undertaking
a number of organizational changes. First, with increased emphasis on data integrity and security, we have asked Chief
Information Officer Pete Grizzaffi to assume the additional title of Chief Information
Security Officer. This role is very often independent from the CIO role that Pete
currently fills. This approach will allow seamless integration between all elements
of our IT infrastructure and systems, which will enhance data and cyber security.
Pete’s experience and insight have been invaluable throughout our response to COVID-19.
Pete will now serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and will continue to report
to Greg O’Connor, Executive Vice President. In addition, although we will never be able to truly replace John Dzinanka, we will
support the growth and continued success of the campus he loved. To that end, we are
dividing the Physical Plant operation into two key elements – Campus Operations and
Capital Planning. These two core functions require a depth of knowledge and experience
that was unique to John. In the meantime we have asked Mark Orlich and Erika Murray
to both serve as interim directors. As Interim Director of Campus Operations, Mark will continue to provide day-to-day
leadership for all building operations, central plant, trades, grounds, and facilities.
Following an external search, the Director of Campus Operations will report to the
Assistant Vice President for Administration, Dorothy Hughes. As Interim Director of Capital Planning, Erika will have oversight for all capital
construction on campus and will serve as the principle liaison to the State University
Construction Fund. The Director of Capital Planning will report to the Controller
of the College. We expect to conduct a formal search for the position at the conclusion
of the academic year. Finally, Interim Controller Keri Franklin is leading the revitalization of our procurement
function. This effort includes a consolidation of all salient procurement operations
as well as the hiring of a new Director of Procurement. Our purchasing staff does
a remarkable job of supporting the campus. As we continue to evolve, we are taking
steps to align duties with the changing needs of the College. My thanks to all in each of these areas for their continued patience and support.
