Dear Student,
This morning the CDC and FDA announced a pause in the administration of the single-dose
Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. As such, New York State has followed suit and
has implemented a pause on all Johnson & Johnson vaccinations until further notice.
NYS DOH will be sending messages through CDMS to all students with previously scheduled J&J appointments to inform them they can appear for their scheduled appointments this week and, instead,
receive the Pfizer vaccine. If you missed your appointment today, please go to the
State site and receive the Pfizer vaccine. If you do not want Pfizer instead of J&J
you need not show up at all.
FSC will not be making additional Johnson & Johnson vaccine appointments until further
review by the FDA, CDC and DOH is completed.
This pause is being initiated out of an abundance of caution. Individuals who have
received the J&J vaccine more than a month ago are at very low risk of adverse effects. Individuals
who received the J&J vaccine more recently should contact their campus health center
or a health care provider if they believe they are experiencing adverse symptoms.
To check for appointment availability at other sites visit am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/. If you are initially unable to schedule an appointment continue checking as new
appointment slots are added often. You can learn more about the vaccines and New York’s
vaccination efforts at covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.
SUNY and FSC will continue to work to find vaccine options for our students. If you
want to schedule a vaccine appointment but have not yet done so, please pay attention
to further notices.
FSC and SUNY continue to prioritize the health and safety of our campus community.
We will keep the campus updated on any pertinent updates.
