November 10, 2020
To the Campus Community:
In light of new directives from SUNY and the State of New York, I want to communicate
our plans and requirements for the balance of the fall semester and provide some preliminary
information about the spring 2021 term.
FSC will adhere to its fall 2020 academic calendar which extends beyond Thanksgiving. Following the Thanksgiving break, classes and labs will resume in their current format—
remote, online, hybrid or in-person—on Monday, November 30, and for the balance of
the semester.
Both prior to and after the Thanksgiving break, all students with an on-campus class
or presence will be required to participate in a mandatory COVID test, or provide
the College with a negative test result.
SUNY has also issued new guidance and requirements that will have an impact on our
spring 2021 academic calendar. Unfortunately, this will require the cancellation of our spring break. Further details will be forthcoming shortly and will be communicated by email and
posted to the COVID-19 Hub on the FSC website.
We will continue our schedule of COVID testing and mandatory wearing of face coverings
and social distancing. Compliance with these and all other healthcare precautions
is expected.
As we approach the end of the semester, it is more important than ever that those
who are on campus complete the COVID-19 screening tool. The tool takes about one minute
to complete and can be accessed here.
FSC students and staff have shown great care and good judgement in taking steps to
protect our campus community. The pandemic environment continues to be challenging
and I appreciate your cooperation in these difficult times.
