New Campus Guidance for Meetings & Engagement with Foreign Government Representatives
To Faculty and Staff:
In accordance with the New York Policy on Meetings with Foreign Government Representatives,
employees are required to document meetings with foreign representatives. Meetings
are considered any physical or virtual meetings and any planned communications, including
correspondence and interactions (physical or electronic). Foreign representatives
include full- or part-time officers, office holders, employees, members, or agents—regardless
of rank—of a foreign local government, a foreign national government, a foreign political
party, a charity or a non-governmental organization affiliated with a foreign government
(including state-owned or state-affiliated entities) or foreign political party.
Most of these meetings are routine activities that will be documented at the departmental
level. However, some activities require further risk screening and reporting to SUNY
System. To assist the campus community in determining which meetings are routine and
require documentation at the department level, and which activities require further
review, the College has adopted Guidance for Risk Screening for Meetings with Foreign Government Representatives. This process ensures that meetings and collaborations with foreign representatives
are properly documented and screened based on risk level.
For questions regarding this guidance or to initiate a screening for an upcoming Tier
2 or Tier 3 meeting, please contact my office at labarbcp@farmingdale.edu or 934-420-2344.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring campus compliance with this policy.
