Fall 2026 Student Feedback Surveys
To All Faculty:
As we approach the mid-point of the fall 2026 semester, we are reminded of Farmingdale
State College’s core identity as a student-first institution. Part of maintaining
that commitment involves listening to the voices of those we teach.
Collecting and analyzing student perspectives is a powerful tool for pedagogical growth
and instructional improvement, along with other tools such as peer observations. By
actively seeking and learning from student feedback, we model the habits of lifelong
learning and critical self-reflection that we hope to instill in our graduates.
Although these surveys are not mandatory for the review process, it is good professional
practice to seek and use feedback to improve. Student feedback provides invaluable
data that helps us refine our courses, identify strengths, and target areas for development.
The Axiom platform has been updated. If you want your students to receive a course
survey, you do not need to do anything. Axiom will automatically send the survey to
students after November 15, as well as reminder emails to complete it. If you offer
a course survey, you can continue to choose whether to submit it to your department
chair or include in your faculty portfolio. If you do not want to have one or more
courses evaluated by students, you will need to log into Axiom to opt out before November
15. The process is straightforward, and there is a PDF and a video walk-through demonstrating
how to opt out.
Logistics and Support:
- Platform: You can opt out from student surveys via Axiom Mentor in the MyFSC portal.
- Instructions: See "How to Opt Out of your Student Feedback Survey" on the Axiom homepage. A video
tutorial is also available on ARIES.
- Best Practice: If you administer a student survey, encouraging students to use class time (via mobile
or laptop) significantly increases participation rates.
- Support: For technical assistance, please contact Jim Fitzpatrick, academic IT support specialist,
at fitzpaj@farmingdale.edu.
Thank you for your dedication to our students and your commitment to professional
growth.
