SUNY Basic Needs Survey
Dear Students:
Many SUNY students experience challenges in meeting their essential needs, such as
having enough food, stable housing, reliable transportation, or sufficient childcare
impacting their ability to focus on their academics. This might be you or someone
you know. To ensure that Farmingdale State College can best support you, we need to
better understand where these gaps exist and how they affect our students. Thus, we
invite you to participate in SUNY’s Basic Needs Survey, which will be emailed to you
beginning November 1.
The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete, and your participation is
entirely voluntary. Your responses will remain confidential and will only be reported
in aggregate form—never individually. Some questions may feel personal, and you may
skip any that you prefer not to answer or stop the survey at any time.
At the end of the survey, you will have the option to request individualized support
immediately by providing your contact information. You may also choose to opt-in to
a drawing for one of eighty $50 Amazon gift cards. Please note that there will be
no link between your survey responses and the gift card drawing.
Your valuable input will help us identify meaningful ways to improve student support
and make FSC a place where all students can thrive while achieving their personal,
academic, and professional goals.
Thank you in advance for your time and participation. If you have any questions or
concerns about the survey, please contact Patricia Lind-Gonzalez in the Office of
Institutional Research & Effectiveness at oir@farmingdale.edu.
Sincerely,
Ronald Jackson, EdD
