LIRR Potential Strike

To FSC Students:

As you may have heard, a potential strike by Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) workers may begin on Thursday, September 18. An LIRR strike would cause major transportation disruptions and delays, impacting students' ability to travel to campus. Alternative transportation options include Suffolk County Transit and NICE (Nassau Inter-County Express) bus systems, both of which make stops on our campus by Horton Hall. However, students who are unable to access campus via alternative public or private transportation should contact their faculty members directly to discuss possible accommodations.

If a strike does take place, its duration will be uncertain. We will provide additional information if it appears the strike will extend into the week beginning September 29.

As a reminder, the campus will be closed Monday, September 22, through Sunday, September 28, and no classes will be in session that week. FSC buildings will be closed, but office staff will be available remotely during regular business hours.
