To the Campus Community:
In the coming weeks, we will change the organizational structure of our Division of
Student Engagement to further enhance the student experience and address the evolving
needs of our diverse student body.
I’m pleased to announce that Michael Nembhard, Director of Residence Life, will be
assuming additional responsibilities in the role of Acting Dean of Students. In this
capacity he will continue his leadership of Residence Life, in addition to overseeing
Title IX, student conduct, and the newly formed position of Student Advocate. This
new position will be filled by Frank Rampello, who most recently served as Dean of
Students. More information will soon be forthcoming on Frank’s role as Student Advocate,
a position that will support and assist our students in a variety of ways.
Kevin Murphy, Executive Dean of Student Engagement, will continue to oversee his existing
portfolio of campus-wide health services, including the Health and Wellness Center
and Campus Mental Health Services, in addition to the Office of Student Activities
and Campus Recreation.
Kevin masterfully led our efforts to keep the campus safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
More recently, Kevin, Frank, and others have succeeded in expanding and improving
student engagement, and increasing our health promotion and wellness programming.
I appreciate the remarkable work that has been done by all members of the Student
Engagement Division in recent semesters. Many more students are participating in activities,
and receiving assistance from health and wellness services. Programs, both educational
and recreational, are being added and far more students are residing on campus and
enjoying their experience at Farmingdale.
