To the Campus Community:
I am pleased to announce that Rohan Howell, Dean of Admissions at SUNY Maritime College,
has been appointed as FSC’s inaugural Vice President of Enrollment Management, effective
January 31, 2024. In this Cabinet-level position, Rohan will provide strategic direction
and leadership of FSC’s Division of Enrollment Management.
He will develop and implement data-informed enrollment plans that reflect higher education
trends and campus goals, with a particular focus on market analysis and positioning.
He will work with campus departments to recruit new student populations from Long
Island and across New York State to build on FSC's position as a SUNY leader in student
enrollment.
Rohan brings a wealth of experience as a proven leader in enrollment and retention
strategies from public and private institutions, including several in the SUNY system.
At SUNY Maritime he was responsible for developing and implementing the College’s
enrollment plan, overseeing undergraduate and graduate admissions, scholarships, and
programs that expand access to higher education for students from diverse and underserved
backgrounds. Previously, he was Acting Dean of Admissions and Assistant Dean of Admissions
at Stony Brook Southampton, where he launched the office of undergraduate admissions
from inception, promoting the new Southampton Campus and its unique programs. His
earlier experience includes appointments as Director of Undergraduate Admissions at
William Paterson University; Director of Admissions, Recruitment, and Retention at
SUNY Orange; and Senior Associate Director of Admissions at Montclair State University.
He received an MBA in General Management, a BS in Airway Science Management, and a
Post-Masters Certificate in Total Quality Management, all from Dowling College.
Thanks to Greg O’Connor, Executive Vice President and CFO, who, since June 2021 has
assumed responsibility for overseeing Enrollment Management. He led us through a time
of transition, ensuring that FSC’s enrollment remained strong. I would also like to
express my gratitude to the members of the search committee for their time, leadership,
and dedication, and to the members of the FSC campus community who participated in
the selection process.
Please join me in welcoming Rohan to the FSC family.
