Dear Colleagues,
I invite you to submit nominations for SUNY's prestigious Distinguished Faculty Ranks
program and the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence.
Distinguished Faculty Ranks
Faculty members holding the rank of full librarian or full professor are eligible
to be nominated. The faculty selected under this program represent the State University's
recognition of consummate professionalism, groundbreaking scholarship, exceptional
instruction, and service contributions that are broad and significant. The four categories
of Distinguished Faculty Ranks are: Distinguished Professorship, Distinguished Service,
Distinguished Teaching, and Distinguished Librarian. Here are SUNY's criteria.
In addition to SUNY’s criteria, the local Selection Committee requires demonstrated
leadership in the production of at least two refereed artistic or scientific accomplishments,
accepted grants, or publications in a refereed environment, including but not limited
to academic journals, conference proceedings, trade journals, books, and online publications,
within six years of their nomination. Additionally, nominees must be previous recipients
of a Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.
Chancellor's Awards for Excellence
Recipients of these awards embody SUNY's highest standards and serve as role models
for the entire academic community. The awards provide SUNY-wide recognition in the
following categories:
- Faculty Service
- Librarianship
- Professional Service
|
- Scholarship and Creative Activities
- Teaching
- Adjunct Teaching
|
To determine whether or not the nominee meets the criteria, please review SUNY's Guidance Document.
In addition to SUNY’s criteria, the local selection committee requires nominees for
Faculty Service, Librarianship, Teaching, and Scholarship and Creative Activities
to be tenured faculty members or non-tenure-track faculty (not preceded by Visiting)
who have worked a minimum of eight years at Farmingdale. Faculty nominated for Teaching
or Adjunct Teaching must submit student evaluations in the form of student questionnaires
or surveys.
To nominate an individual for any of the programs above, please submit the nomination form no later than Thursday, May 25, 2023. In compliance with SUNY guidelines, self-nominations will not be accepted.
Should you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Provost, provost@farmingdale.edu. I strongly encourage you to nominate deserving colleagues for recognition. Visit this link for a list of previous recipients.
