Leadership Update: Interim Appointments
Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to share an important update regarding leadership in our Office for Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusive Excellence. Effective today, Michael Nembhard, who has served
as dean of students since August 2025 and previously as acting dean of students since
January 2024, is stepping into the role of interim executive director of diversity,
equity, and inclusive excellence, reporting to me. He brings experience in supporting
institutional compliance and inclusive excellence through previous oversight of the
Title IX office at Farmingdale, in addition to cross-functional efforts on Title VI,
Title IX, and other federal civil rights laws and SUNY policies.
Also effective today, Frank Rampello, who has held many student-advocacy roles in
his 18 years at Farmingdale, currently as assistant dean of students, and previously
as student advocate, dean of students, and Title IX coordinator, will serve as interim
dean of students, reporting to Ron Jackson, vice president for student affairs.
These changes will enable us to continue to build on the momentum of both the Office
for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence and the Office of the Dean of Students,
while reinforcing the College's commitment to these essential areas within our campus
community.
I have every confidence that Michael and Frank will provide steady, strategic, and
supportive guidance, as they have throughout their tenures at Farmingdale State College.
Please join me in thanking Michael and Frank and their respective teams for taking
on these important roles, and in supporting them fully in their new capacities on
campus.
