Celebrating July 4, 2026: Hope for Tomorrow
To the Campus Community:
This year, the Fourth of July has added significance as we, as a country, commemorate
the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Celebrations
are planned across the country, including right here at home with the FourLeaf Air
Show at Jones Beach State Park on July 5 and 6, where each day will be kicked off
by our own FSC Flying Rams.
For me, this is a moment to reflect on our nation's humble yet stormy beginnings,
the path to our present day, and our hopes for what lies ahead. Though our history
is complex and our journey imperfect, we honor the American spirit and aspirations
as we continue to educate, discover, explore, and learn. As teachers and learners,
we remain firmly committed to the founding ideals embedded in our constitution. We
are fortunate to be a part of an academic community, and to have the opportunity to
witness and contribute to the growth and potential of our students. Seeing them succeed
and emerge at our annual celebratory commencement fills me with immense hope for tomorrow.
I see progress every day, and I applaud all of you for the inspiring work that you
do on behalf of our campus community.
I wish you all a safe and festive holiday weekend, with moments of reflection and
celebration as we look toward a "more perfect” future.
