LIEOC Executive Director
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that, following a competitive search process, Anne Marie
Armstrong has been appointed executive director of the Long Island Educational Opportunity
Center (LIEOC).
Anne Marie brings a deep and sustained commitment to the LIEOC, having served as acting
executive director since July 2024. Prior to that, she held several key leadership
and academic roles within the center, including associate executive director, associate
director for academic services, chair, and adjunct professor. Her extensive experience
also includes work as a teacher and administrator with Nassau BOCES, as well as service
as a dean and English teacher at John F. Kennedy High School. She holds a master’s
degree in secondary education from St. John’s University, a Master of Arts in English
literature from Hofstra University, and a professional diploma in educational administration
and supervision from Long Island University.
Under Anne Marie’s leadership, the LIEOC has earned “Best of Long Island” recognition
while continuing to expand both enrollment and program offerings—clear indicators
of her strategic vision and dedication to student success. Anne Marie’s experience,
leadership, and unwavering commitment position her exceptionally well to guide the
LIEOC into its next chapter. I am confident that the center will continue to thrive
under her direction.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the search committee, led by Brian Schwirzbine,
LIEOC director of student services, and all members of the campus community who participated
in this process.
Please join me in congratulating Anne Marie Armstrong on her well-deserved appointment.
