Women’s History Month 2026
To the Campus Community:
Each March, our nation observes Women’s History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate
the extraordinary contributions of women whose leadership, courage, and perseverance
have helped shape our institutions, communities, and country. From pioneers in education,
science, business, public service, and the arts, to the countless women whose everyday
leadership strengthens families and communities, their influence continues to transform
our society and expand opportunity for future generations.
For many of our students, the milestones achieved by women over the past century—from
the fight for suffrage to the advancement of women in higher education and leadership—may
feel like distant history. Yet the legacy of those struggles and triumphs continues
to shape the opportunities available today. Women’s History Month offers us a moment
in time to reflect on these achievements, and to consider the responsibility we share
in ensuring that progress continues.
At Farmingdale State College, we are deeply committed to cultivating a campus environment
where all individuals are empowered to thrive, contribute, and lead. The voices, scholarship,
leadership, and experiences of women across our campus community enrich the academic
and cultural life of the College. Through the efforts of faculty, staff, students,
and our Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence, we continue to promote
meaningful dialogue, educational programming, and initiatives that highlight the importance
of equity, inclusion, and belonging in higher education.
Women’s History Month reminds us that progress is built through persistence, collaboration,
and a willingness to challenge barriers. It calls on each of us to recognize the achievements
of women, past and present, while continuing to create spaces where the next generation
of leaders can learn, grow, and lead with purpose.
We invite the FSC community to participate in programs and conversations throughout
the month that celebrate the accomplishments and ongoing contributions of women. Together,
through awareness, engagement, and action, we continue to strengthen our commitment
to building a more inclusive campus for all.
