Challenges and Opportunities in Higher Education - A Presidents' Panel
Dear Colleagues:
Farmingdale State College is developing a series of leadership forums, following our
successful roundtable of local leaders during inauguration week held last spring.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the next discussion in this
series:
Our Collective Reality: Challenges and Opportunities Facing Higher Education Today
March 4, 2026 | 10 a.m.
Campus Center Ballroom
Moderated by Kara Cannon, executive director of the Tesla Science Center, this session
will bring together a panel of Long Island university presidents, including Stony
Brook University, SUNY Old Westbury, NYIT, and myself, to discuss issues we’re all
facing. These include challenges to the perceived value of higher education and the
looming enrollment cliff, as well as the impact of approaches to DEI, research funding
initiatives, and student support.
Faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to join us for this thoughtful exchange
of ideas and experiences and proactive approaches in this new higher education milieu.
Kindly RSVP by Thursday, February 25. I look forward to seeing you there.
