Holocaust Remembrance Day
To the Campus Community:
Today we observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day—a solemn occasion that echoes
the enduring call of “never again.” It is a day that compels us to confront what discrimination,
hatred, and racism truly mean for our shared humanity and our civilization.
At a time of rising antisemitism, growing Islamophobia, and deepening political divisions
that can give way to violence, we must remember the conditions that led to the systematic
extermination of millions of people in a world that remained dangerously silent as
the seeds of hatred took root. The Holocaust did not begin with violence alone. It
began with words, indifference, and the normalization of exclusion.
History reminds us that communities that demonstrate solidarity, civil discourse,
and empathy can come together and bring about positive change. Today, let us pause
to reflect on what occurred, how it came to be, and to honor the millions of lives
lost by ensuring their voices are not forgotten.
