FSC Welcomes Joakim Nyoni as
Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement
Dear Colleagues:
I am excited to announce that Joakim (Kim) Nyoni, senior associate vice president
for advancement and campaign co-director at the University at Buffalo (UB), will be
joining FSC as vice president for development and alumni engagement, effective November
3, 2025.
Kim will serve as chief advancement officer for the College and provide strategic
leadership for fundraising and alumni relations efforts, while helping to grow and
nurture corporate partnerships. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, he will play
a central role in shaping our future philanthropic support and in cultivating meaningful
relationships with stakeholders. He will also serve as executive director of the Farmingdale
Foundation, guiding its fundraising strategy and aligning its mission with FSC priorities.
For those of you who met Kim during his visit, it was clear he did his homework. He
deeply understands our College, has high aspirations, and is poised to hit the ground
running.
A 20-year advancement veteran, Kim joined UB from the University of Florida, where
he served as assistant vice president for advancement. He also led development programs
as associate vice president for development with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
During his career, he has been part of advancement teams at the University of Missouri,
University of Arizona, Utah State University, and University of California, Berkeley.
Kim is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Journalism
and a Master of Arts in advertising. He also attended the Institute for Educational
Management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Many thanks to Greg O’Connor, who stepped in to oversee the Office for Development
and Alumni Engagement for the last two months. I would also like to acknowledge and
thank the search committee, led by Greg and Chris Maio, for their time and dedication
to ensure a successful search, and to the many members of the FSC campus community
who contributed to this process.
Please join me in welcoming Kim to the Farmingdale family when he starts in his new
role next month.
