Full Time Faculty Extra Service
Dear Colleagues:
As we wrap up the spring 2025 semester, I have been informed that further clarity is needed about additional credit pay beyond normal load when teaching extra
courses or sections. I first learned about this issue on April 29 from the Council of Chairs, although I understand it
is not a new issue. Working with our CFO, we were able to resolve this inequity within a very few days. What was left to consider was a budgeting
process. As I shared with the leadership of the FEC, UUP, Council of Chairs, and Governance
in mid-May, this fiscal imbalance would be resolved.
I am pleased to confirm that, beginning with the fall 2025 semester, the Extra Service
Rate for full-time faculty will increase to $4,500 per 3 credit class/section. This
new rate is in line with the negotiated adjunct minimum. It will apply to both extra
service teaching and to independent study and internships that are performed for additional
credit beyond the normal teaching load.
As I conclude my first academic year on our campus, I remain excited about the opportunities
that the future will bring as we continue our student-focused work together.
