Announcing New Appointments in Academic Affairs
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce two important appointments within the Division of Academic
Affairs.
First, Dylan Gafarian, EdD, has been appointed acting dean of extended and experiential
learning. In this role, Dr. Gafarian will advance the work of the Research Aligned
Mentorship (RAM) program, expand the scope and reach of the University in the High
School program, oversee the Institute for Learning in Retirement, and work to build
a robust professional development program focused on continuing education and workforce
development microcredentials.
Reporting to the provost, this position will be instrumental in elevating our footprint
with industry, local high schools, and the broader community, while deepening the
excellent work of the RAM program to provide quality research experiences and expanded
opportunities. Dr. Gafarian's insight, level of commitment to excellence, and desire
to advance the institution will undoubtedly serve him well in this new role.
Second, Christopher Adamczyk, PhD, will serve as assistant director of the Honors
Program. Working alongside Dr. Katelynn Deluca, Dr. Adamczyk will help manage culminating
projects and oversee prestigious scholarships and fellowships such as the Fulbright
and the Goldwater Scholarship.
Under the umbrella of the Honors Program, these opportunities will be available to
all FSC students. Dr. Adamczyk will help prepare applications, manage timelines for
deliverables, and guide the development of portfolios to meet award requirements.
Through this work, the College expects that FSC students will be better positioned
to advance to final review stages and become recipients of these prestigious scholarships
and fellowships.
Please join me in congratulating both Dylan and Christopher on their new roles.
Laura Joseph, EdD
Senior Vice President and Provost
