Sad News About an FSC Colleague
Dear Colleagues:
It is with deep sorrow that I share the news of the unexpected passing of one of our
colleagues, Dr. Yi-Fan Chen, who passed away on December 7, 2024.
Dr. Chen was a beloved faculty member of the Visual Communications department contributing
significantly to the advancement of the curriculum and the specialized reaccreditation
of the Vis Comm programs through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design
(NASAD). As an actively engaged faculty member, Dr. Chen was dedicated to teaching,
mentorship, and the fostering of creativity among her students. In addition, her scholarly
accomplishments and service contributions to the broader academic community led her
to the achievement of continuing appointment, which would have been effective September,
2025. Funeral services will not be held locally.
During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Dr. Chen’s family and friends. Her
absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.
