Proposal Incentive Program
Dear Colleagues,
I am happy to announce the launch of the College’s Proposal Incentive Program (PIP).
As discussed at Governance, this program is designed to promote the creation and submission
of highly competitive proposals for external grant funding.
The program’s intent is to provide faculty and staff with the opportunity to produce
a completed proposal for submission to an appropriate federal agency, state agency,
corporate foundation, or non-profit organization, with a budget of $150,000 or more,
in support of scholarly research. Based on faculty and staff submissions, the program
will select 10 awards for a one semester course release for full-time faculty OR an
appropriately scaled “also receives” stipend for professional awardees.
PIP applications will be evaluated based on the:
- overall clarity and scholastic significance of the proposed project idea
- likelihood of funding success and achievement of stated objectives with the selected
funding agency
- project’s potential contribution(s) to the relevant disciplines, our institution,
and our students, and
- relative “promise” of “next steps” in terms of potential scholarly achievement and
opportunity for future additional funding support.
Applicants must be full-time faculty, or any academic or administrative professional,
who have been employed at Farmingdale State College for a minimum of two years. Applications
are to be submitted to the Provost’s Office via the PIP FY 2024-2025 application form
in AXIOM. View the Accessing the PIP Application document for instructions. Submissions are due by 5:00 p.m. on March 1, 2025. Applicants will be notified on April 1, 2025 if they have been selected for an award.
For questions about the program, please contact the Provost’s Office at 934-420-2003
or email me at josephlm@farmingdale.edu. All AXIOM related questions should be directed to Jim Fitzpatrick at fitzpaj@farmingdale.edu.
