Dr. Kenneth Lee Appointed Dean of School of Engineering Technology
To the Campus Community:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kenneth Lee, PhD, as the new dean of Farmingdale
State College’s School of Engineering Technology. The appointment will be effective
August 5, 2024.
Dr. Lee is an accomplished administrator having served as dean of the Lance College
of Mines and Engineering at Montana Technological University. He was previously professor
and founding chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western
New England University. Dr. Lee has also held academic positions at University of
Massachusetts Lowell and Rutgers University. Furthermore, he was a postdoctoral research
associate at Princeton University after earning his PhD at the University of California
at Irvine.
During his tenure as dean, he oversaw 10 academic departments and 13 programs, including
computer science and networking/cybersecurity. His focus on student success and retention
have led to curriculum enhancements and improved enrollment.
As an ABET program evaluator and leader of program accreditations, Dr. Lee has the
necessary and relevant background to support the School of Engineering Technology
in the upcoming reaccreditation cycle.
Ken succeeds Barbara L. Christe, PhD, who has served as dean of the School of Engineering
Technology since 2018. Barb was FSC's first female dean, and greatly advanced the
school with her focus on new and revised curricula, significant facilities and technology
improvements, and much improved external funding.
I want to share my tremendous appreciation to all the members of the search committee
for their leadership and dedication through the selection process.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Ken Lee on his appointment and in welcoming him
to the FSC community as dean of the School of Engineering Technology.
Laura Joseph, EdD
