Special Campus Message
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to inform you of my intent to retire from Farmingdale State College at
the end of the fall 2024 semester. Working alongside of all of you has been an extraordinary
experience, filled with collaboration, support, and cherished memories, which has
made my decision a difficult one.
I began as a student at Farmingdale in 1982 and, after 40 years as a member of the
Farmingdale State College community, it is time for me to begin the next chapter in
my life. In my letter to Dr. Nader, I indicated that I am prepared to stay until the
end of the 2024-2025 academic year, should there be a need for me to support the transition
of the new President.
Over the years, I have witnessed Farmingdale’s transformation from an agricultural/technical
associate degree-granting institution, to one that is thriving with graduate programs
and over 64 baccalaureate degree programs and more to come. The work we have accomplished
together has been remarkable and has set the College on a trajectory for continued
success.
Reflecting on my various roles at the College, I will forever be grateful for the
opportunity to serve in the position of Provost for the past nine years. Serving the
College in this capacity has truly been my greatest honor and privilege. I am proud
of the many accomplishments my team and I have achieved in helping to shape the institution
and advance the Division of Academic Affairs.
Having spent the greater part of my life as both a student and employee at the institution,
Farmingdale will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish all of you the very
best in your future endeavors. May you achieve greatness and find fulfillment. Thank
you for everything.
With sincere gratitude,
Laura
