National Survey of Student Engagement
Dear Farmingdale Student:
Farmingdale State College, in conjunction with the Center for Postsecondary Research
at Indiana University, is administering the National Survey of Student Engagement
(NSSE) to freshmen and seniors in a baccalaureate degree program. We would very much
appreciate your feedback on student engagement issues that will help us to provide
the best educational experience possible.
An email invitation from Farmingdale’s president, Dr. John Nader, will be sent on
March 1. It will contain your link to the survey.
Your responses to the survey questions will be linked to your identity for analysis
purposes; however, the data will be reported in aggregate and you will not be identified
in any resulting presentations or publications. You are permitted to skip any question
in the survey for any reason and still submit the survey.
In appreciation for participating, all students who complete the survey by April 15,
2023 will be entered into a random drawing to win a $100 gift card to the campus bookstore.
Your chances of winning depend on how many complete the survey; the last time we administered
this survey 778 students responded out of 3,291. Based on this proportion, your estimated
odds of winning are 1 in 785. This year 3,320 students will be invited to participate.
If you have any questions about this project or how we plan to use the results, please
contact Patricia Lind-Gonzalez in the Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness
at 934-420-2298.
This study has been approved by the Farmingdale State College’s Institutional Review
Board. If you have any questions about your rights as a research subject, please contact
the IRB Administrator at 934-420-2687 or IRB@farmingdale.edu.
Your feedback is valuable, and I want to thank you personally for considering this
request.
