Professional Development, Office Hours & Faculty Webpages

Dear Colleagues,
Now that the semester is underway, I have a few updates and announcements for you
regarding funding opportunities to support professional development activities, the
pilot of remote office hours, and faculty webpages.
Professional Development Funding
In recognition of the importance of supporting the continued growth and development
of the faculty, I am pleased to announce that the Provost’s Office Professional Development
Funding has been restored. Funds are now available to support full-time faculty professional
development opportunities and activities. Full-time faculty are invited to apply to
receive funding to support conference attendance, professional training, and other
activities that lead to enhancement. Applications, submitted through Axiom Mentor,
will be reviewed by the school dean and department chair on a triennial basis: October,
February, and April.
- Applications must be completed and submitted before the 15th of the intended triennial
review period (October 15, February 15, and April 15)
- One professional development activity can be requested per application
- Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received PD support funds
from this funding source
- All proposed professional development activities must occur AFTER the intended review
period
- The maximum amount of funding through this application for the academic year is $3,000
per individual. Please be aware that funds are limited; therefore, some applications
may be denied or not fully supported.
When completing the application in AXIOM, you MUST click “Application is Complete”
to process the application. The “Application is Complete” button becomes available
when all the required contents are uploaded or filled out on the application. Should
you need any technical assistance with the process in Axiom, please reach out to Justin

Remote Office Hours
As part of the full-time faculty members’ professional obligation, they must hold
5 (50 minute) office hours per week across three days. For the Fall 2022 term, it
has been decided to pilot the utilization of remote office hours. Therefore, office
hours may be adjusted to allow 2 of the 5 required hours (50 minutes) to be conducted off campus using virtual conferencing. The remaining
3 hours must be conducted on campus either in-person or virtually. Note, office hour
schedules are to be submitted to the department chair and clearly stated on the faculty
member’s course syllabi with appropriate contact information.
Faculty Webpages
Faculty webpages are available and ready to be populated with headshots and professional
information. Contact Marketing and Communications at communications@farmingdale.edu to take your professional headshot if you do not have one that is up-to-date. Then
contact webchanges@farmingdale.edu to have your headshot uploaded to your webpage. Information from Axiom Mentor can
be added automatically by updating your Axiom Mentor account to allow for information
transfer. Simply download the tutorial on how to send Axiom Information directly to your faculty webpage.
