Third Annual Lavender Graduation & Pride Prom
To the Campus Community:
The Pride Club and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence will
hold its third annual Lavender Graduation and Pride Prom on Tuesday, May 6, to celebrate LGBTQIA+ seniors, their accomplishments, and contributions to the College.
More than 200 colleges and universities across the country hold Lavender Graduations,
and the color lavender is significant in LGBTQIA+ history. It is a combination of
the pink triangle that gay men were forced to wear, and the black triangle lesbians
were forced to wear in concentration camps in Nazi Germany.
Lavender Graduation will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by Pride Prom at 6 p.m., in
the Campus Center Ballroom. If you are a graduating senior that identifies as LGBTQIA+ and would like to participate,
RSVP by Friday, May 2. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
Though participation in the Lavender Graduation ceremony is intended for graduating
seniors, all campus members are invited to attend. For more information, please visit the above linked event pages, or contact Farmingdale
Pride at FSCPride@farmingdale.edu or Andrea Tew at tewam@farmingdale.edu.
