Charles Miranda Announcement
To Faculty and Staff:
With Farmingdale State College pride, I am pleased to announce that Mr. Charles Miranda
has been named the Executive Director of the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center
at Farmingdale State College.
Mr. Miranda has had a rich history with the LIEOC for over 25 years. His career at
the LIEOC began in October 1993 as an employee of the Research Foundation as a Job
Developer for the Bridge Project, a federal grant program to help social service recipients
gain entry-level positions in the workforce. In two short years, he became Director
of the Bridge Project. A year later, in 1996, he officially became a member of the
LIEOC as the Job Developer. From 2000 to 2005, he held various positions in the LIEOC,
including Summer Administrator for the Brentwood site and the Building Administrator.
In 2005 he was appointed as the Assistant Dean and was responsible for the Brentwood
site and the Business and Career Technologies department. In 2012, Charles was responsible
for promoting off-site programs and began to work on EOC grants. In 2014, he assumed
the responsibility of LIEOC operations, including all building leases and significant
purchases. Charles was highly successful as the liaison with the Farmingdale Campus
and continued to advance in his career. In 2017, he was named Associate Director of
Operations for the LIEOC, where he was responsible for operations of the sites, grant
programs, external programs, and Campus liaison. In 2020, Chuck assumed the role of
Interim Executive Director. As a SUNY alumnus, Chuck received his Bachelor of Science
degree from Oswego State College and his Master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Stony
Brook University.
With the changing landscape of academic and workforce development, Charles has proven
himself to be a leader in developing and maintaining quality educational workforce
training programs and services to support the social and well-being of under-served
New York State residents.
Please join me as we offer Chuck congratulations for this appointment!
