Inclement Weather Procedures
To the Campus Community:
During the course of the year, there may be occasions when the College president decides
to cancel or delay classes and/or on-campus activities due to inclement weather conditions.
In these circumstances, the College utilizes a pre-planned system to notify the campus
community.
When classes are canceled or delayed, and College offices are open, all non-teaching
employees are expected to report to work. Only the governor can direct that the campus
close entirely. Employees who have approval for periodic remote work may decide to
work from home, with their supervisor's approval, on days when travel may be difficult
or charge the appropriate leave accruals.
Information about delays or cancellations is shared in campus-wide email messages,
on the College Facebook and Instagram accounts, and, in some cases, posted to the
FSC website. The College also notifies News 12 about delays or cancellations.
FSC utilizes the RAVE system to communicate in the case of an emergency. To ensure
that you receive relevant campus communications, all students, faculty, and staff
are encouraged to sign up for this service by going to www.getrave.com and selecting Farmingdale State College. Use your FSC user ID and password to sign
in. Please edit your account information to include your cell phone number if you
want to receive text notifications. If you do not enter your cell phone number, you will receive RAVE notifications via
email only.
While announcements may be made only in the event of a delay or cancellation, weather
conditions can change rapidly and without warning and may necessitate frequent changes
to the campus response. If we are experiencing severe weather, please check FSC’s
communications channels frequently and be prepared to respond in the event of a weather
emergency.
My thanks for your cooperation and understanding as we work to keep our campus community
safe during the winter season and throughout the year.
