CrowdStrike Update
The CrowdStrike incident we experienced earlier today reminds us to stay vigilant
when receiving emails or phone calls from those impersonating IT Helpdesk staff. The
FBI has alerted SUNY that bad actors are actively trying to take advantage of today’s
events to gain access to secure systems. In the event you receive a call or email
from someone “trying to help”, do not provide any information and please do not access
any requested website, or download or execute any unknown files on your computer.
Instead, please document key information about the call or email and immediately report
the incident to the IT Helpdesk.
In terms of ongoing campus impact, thanks to the outstanding work of our dedicated
IT staff, all affected servers were restored this morning. There may be some lingering
effects that our team is continuing to address but, in general, we are back up and
functioning at full capacity from an infrastructure standpoint.
With that said, if you are experiencing any PC or laptop issues, please contact the
Helpdesk for assistance.
My thanks to the IT staff for their quick response and for their continued efforts
to protect our critical systems.
