Mark Orlich - Director of Facilities Operations
February 7, 2023
To the Campus Community:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Orlich as Director of Facilities
Operations at Farmingdale State College. A graduate of FSC and SUNY Old Westbury,
Mark brings more than 36 years of experience and institutional knowledge to this position.
He joined FSC in 1986 as a Staff Assistant to the Director of Physical Plant and was
quickly promoted to Manager of General Services, and later to Manager of Physical
Plant Operations. During his time on campus, he has managed all campus facilities
maintenance issues, overseen several compliance programs pursuant to state and federal
guidelines, and supervised a staff of more than 100 across seven different functional
areas.
Mark rose to the challenge of a leadership role in the early days of the COVID pandemic
and was here on campus supporting our front-line workers through the duration of the
crisis. Since assuming the role of Acting Director of Facilities in September of 2021,
he has brought about many positive changes within the department, including the creation
of the Office of Sustainability and Energy Management. He also improved work order
response time, and enhanced customer service and campus beautification efforts.
Mark will continue to provide day-to-day leadership for all facilities operations,
including the heating plant, trades, general services, and sustainability and energy
management.
My sincere thanks and appreciation to Mark for all of his outstanding efforts, dedication,
and commitment to Farmingdale State College. Please join me in congratulating Mark
on his new position.
