Call for Nominations—SUNY Undergraduate Excellence in Research Award
Sent on behalf of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (OURS)
To the Campus Community:
Students are now eligible to receive the newly established SUNY Undergraduate Excellence
in Research Award. The award allows SUNY to recognize undergraduate students whose
research or creative activity demonstrates innovation, excellence, and meaningful
contributions to their fields of study.
A total of five students across all SUNY campuses will be selected for the inaugural
award and will each receive $1,000 to support their future academic pursuits. Recipients
of this award will also be recognized at the 2027 SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference.
Each campus can only nominate one student for this award each year, and an FSC committee
will begin reviewing potential nominees in the coming weeks.
Students who have completed an on-campus research project or creative activity with
a faculty mentor and are interested in being nominated for this award, must attend
one of the following information sessions:
- Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Gleeson L111
- Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 3-4 p.m., Gleeson L111
- Thursday, October 22, 2026, 5-6 p.m., Gleeson L111
Additional information is available on the SUNY Undergraduate Excellence in Research Award Information Sessions event page.
If a student is unable to attend one of the information sessions above, they must
contact OURS at ours@farmingdale.edu by November 2, 2026, or they will not be considered for the nomination. Faculty mentors
and staff who work with students may also attend these sessions but are not required
to do so.
