New Video Authoring Tool for Distance Learning
Sent on behalf of the Office of Distance Learning
To Faculty and Staff:
The Office of Distance Learning is pleased to announce a continuing contract and upcoming
migration with YuJa Lumina. The accessibility features, video quiz generator, and
interactive/branching video tools are just a few of the elements in this video platform
that promise to improve student engagement, academic integrity, and course accessibility.
Please review the information below regarding migration, timeline, and trainings.
No Action Required of Faculty: All your previous recordings in Panopto will be copied and relinked by YuJa and
Distance Learning. You will not have to re-record or re-link any of your videos in
any of your classes.
Migration is scheduled for early November: Please ensure that you record only with YuJa after November 1, 2026. If you need
Panopto access after November 1 and before the shutdown, please contact: distancelearning@farmingdale.edu.
Student Video Submission Assignments: If you use Panopto for student assignment submissions, you can switch to YuJa now
by replacing your assignment content with those included in this sample YuJa video assignment. Panopto will remain in use for students until the end of December, but any student
submissions recorded after November 1 will not be copied into the new system. If you
have questions about this, email our helpdesk at distancelearning@farmingdale.edu. To learn how to create a YuJa video assignment, read this tutorial.
Trainings and Workshops: Dr. Lisa Frazier will host the first YuJa training session on October 28, 2026 at
3 p.m. (register here). Workshops and trainings will continue throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Registration links for trainings will be published on the campus calendar and on the
Distance Learning Events webpage.
Questions: Visit our ARIES webpage for more information and tutorials, and the YuJa module on the Brightspace Faculty Resource Site.
Please reach out if there is any assistance we can offer to you or your departments.
