Farmingdale State College will be hosting this year’s SUNY Sustainability Conference June 9-11, 2026. The conference is an opportunity to connect with professionals from
a variety of sustainability-minded roles at SUNY colleges and beyond. The event will
offer educational sessions featuring information relevant to sustainability in higher
education and New York State, opportunities to share success stories, discuss emerging
issues, develop networks and partnerships, and discuss creative solutions to help
advance sustainability actions across the state.
Keynote speaker David Wallace-Wells is currently a columnist and staff writer at The
New York Times, where he writes a weekly newsletter on climate change, technology,
and the future of the planet. Wallace-Wells served as deputy editor at New York Magazine
and The Paris Review, and was a National Fellow at the New America Foundation. He
also co-hosted the podcast 2038, which explored predictions about the next two decades.
Students that conduct sustainability related research, have a general interest in
sustainability, and/or want to learn more about sustainability across higher-ed in
NYS are welcome to attend. Limited student scholarships are available and applications will be reviewed until May 15, 2026. Scholarship recipients receive free registration to the conference and will be required
to give a poster presentation.
