2026 FSC Day of Service: Leadership, Advocacy, and Service
To the Campus Community:
The Office of Community and Civic Engagement, the Office of the Dean of Students,
the Student Government Association, Campus Mental Health Services, and the Office
of Sustainability are pleased to announce the 2026 FSC Day of Service, on Tuesday, April 21. This year, we highlight the powerful ways young people use
their voices and platforms to advocate for change and contribute meaningfully to their
communities.
Highlights of the day:
- 11 a.m. | Nold Gym: The Community Service Awards Ceremony, followed by Gold Medal Mindset: A Conversation with Olympic Gold Medalists Aly Raisman & Laurie
Hernandez. Raisman and Hernandez—whose careers exemplify excellence, resilience, and advocacy—have
used their platforms to champion important social causes and inspire young leaders
across the country. As part of our commitment to service, attendees are encouraged to bring a toiletry
donation when attending. A Little Food and Company and AHRC will be donating toiletry
items to help support members of our community through the FSC Food Pantry and other
needs-based organizations in the regional area, helping to provide essential resources
to individuals and families in need.
- 12:15 p.m. | Nold Auxiliary Gym: Can Castle Design Competition. As part of their week-long "Greek Week Competition" Farmingdale Fraternity/Sorority
Life will host their annual competition, where each organization will use 1,000 cans/items
to design the best representation of this year's Greek Week theme, "Touring the United
States." Judging will take place immediately following the Gold Medal Mindset program
in the auxiliary gym. 2025’s Can Castle yielded over 71,000 pounds of non-perishable goods. Fraternity/Sorority Life hopes to break that record!
- 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | Quintyne-Campus Center walkway: The Green Giveaway thrift event, promoting waste reduction by giving items a second life. Items include:
clothing, shoes, jackets, hats, dorm essentials, kitchen essentials, school supplies,
and more.
The annual Day of Service reflects FSC's continued commitment to civic responsibility
and community engagement—reminding us that leadership is not only about influence,
but about service to others. If you would like to volunteer to assist in organizing
donated toiletry items for OCCE, please contact occe@gmail.com
