Summer Undergraduate Research Institute: Call for Mentors
To FSC Faculty:
The Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI) is now seeking faculty mentors
for summer 2026, and we invite you to consider participating in this signature undergraduate
research initiative at Farmingdale State College.
SURI provides faculty with an opportunity to advance their scholarly projects while
mentoring two to four highly motivated student researchers over an eight- to twelve-week
summer experience. Whether you are continuing an existing line of inquiry or launching
a new project, SURI offers structured support to help you build a productive research
team with dedicated student researchers.
Faculty Mentors are expected to engage students in meaningful, hands-on research through
activities such as weekly check-ins, research logs, guided skill-building, and ongoing
evaluation of student progress. Mentorship may occur in person or through a blended
model based on project needs.
Selected Faculty Mentors will receive a $5,000 stipend, along with supplemental funding for research supplies (while supplies last). Space
is limited, only 10 mentors are selected each summer.
Applications are now open and will close on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
To learn more about this program or to apply, please visit the SURI Mentor website. You may also contact the RAM Program at ramprogram@farmingdale.edu for more information.
Thank you for your continued commitment to undergraduate research at FSC.
