Nominations and Election for Presidential Search Committee
Dear Farmingdale Community:
As you are aware, President Nader has announced his intention to retire at the end
of the current academic year. Consistent with SUNY policies and procedures, we are now beginning the search process with the formation of the Presidential Search
Committee.
Among several other representatives from the campus community, the search committee
will include a total of six faculty members, including one from the Arts Unit, one from the Sciences Unit, one from each of the
other three schools, and one member atālarge.
In addition, one professional staff member will be elected from across the institution, pending approval from SUNY for a second
professional seat on the search committee (SUNY policy lists one professional seat,
and we are requesting a second professional seat).
An email was sent out on Saturday, October 21 to all faculty and professional staff
with a nomination survey. Please nominate an appropriate colleague(s) or yourself
to serve on the committee. The nomination survey will close on Monday, October 30 (note that the deadline has been extended).
Once nominations are collected, election ballots will be sent out by email to all
faculty and professional staff, who will be able to vote for each of the elected positions.
The election will close immediately after Governance on November 7.
Note that all members of the search committee will be required to participate in all
meetings and interviews, and will be required to maintain strict confidentiality.
More information will follow soon regarding the complete search process, including
a tentative timeline, campus-wide participation opportunities, and more.
Thank you all for your patience as we navigate this important process, and please
participate to your fullest ability. Your opinion is valuable.
Best wishes,
Sarah
