Please Join Us in Wearing Denim on April 29, 2026
To the Campus Community:
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in Denim Day on Wednesday,
April 29, 2026, by wearing denim in support of sexual violence prevention and survivor
advocacy.
Denim Day is the longest-running sexual violence prevention and education campaign
in the United States. It mobilizes individuals, communities, and institutions through
a visible call to action—wearing jeans with purpose. The campaign commemorates an
Italian Supreme Court ruling that drew international outrage after a conviction was
overturned based on harmful assumptions about consent related to the victim’s clothing.
In recognition of this important initiative, we encourage each department to participate
by wearing denim on April 29. We also invite departments to take a group photo and
share it with our office for potential inclusion on the College’s social media platforms.
Please send your pictures to dei@farmingdale.edu.
Visible acts of support play a meaningful role in affirming survivors and fostering
a campus culture grounded in respect, accountability, and care. We appreciate your
partnership in advancing awareness and standing in solidarity with victim-survivors.
Thank you for your participation.
