Extreme Cold Alert
To the Campus Community:
The Facilities Operations Department and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety
would like to alert you of dangerously cold temperatures expected to return to New
York State this weekend. These conditions present potential risks to our campus community,
including impacts to our buildings, outdoor spaces, and facilities that may be more
vulnerable during periods of extreme cold.
To help protect our campus, we remind everyone to keep windows and exterior doors
closed and remain vigilant for any situations that may be particularly vulnerable
to this type of environment. Students and staff are encouraged to take personal precautions,
including limiting time outdoors, dressing in warm layers, and being mindful of potential
cold-related hazards.
If you experience any urgent issues, please report them to Facilities Operations at
(934) 420-2017 during normal business hours, or (934) 420-2605 after hours. For emergencies, call University Police at (934) 420-2111. For non-emergency concerns, you may also submit a work order through the work order system.
By anticipating possible challenges and responding quickly to any emerging issues,
you can help us minimize risk and ensure that everyone stays safe.
Thank you for your attention and your continued dedication to our campus community.
Stay safe and stay warm.
