Winter Break Reminders
To Faculty and Staff:
As winter recess approaches, please take a moment to review the following important
reminders before leaving for
the holiday break:
Campus Closure
Campus buildings will be closed Tuesday evening, December 23, 2025 through and including
Thursday, January 1, 2026.
- Be sure to take any personal items or work materials you may need during the break
when you leave campus on December 23 as you will be unable to access your office during
this period.
- To maximize our energy savings and to avoid potential damage to building infrastructure,
please make sure that all windows in your office and other work areas are closed.
- As a matter of computer security, as well as additional energy savings, please shut
down all computers and any local desktop printers.
- Please lock office doors, and turn off all lights and radiators, where possible, before
leaving.
Essential Employees and Scheduled Maintenance
For essential employees working on campus, please be advised that Capital Planning
and Facilities Operations will continue to work on various projects across the campus
during the break.
Facilities has also scheduled electrical system maintenance during the break to minimize
disruption to the campus during the semester.
To isolate each building for maintenance, brief (~15 min) outages will occur between
6 a.m. and 7 a.m. each day.
An 8-hour shutdown will then be required at each of the buildings below on the date
specified:
- 12/26: Campus Center
- 12/29: Greenley Library
- 12/30: Whitman Hall
- 12/31: Dewey Hall
- 1/2: School of Business
In addition, Information Technology will perform the following scheduled updates to IT systems during the break. These updates will enhance and protect our
systems and ensure continued performance throughout the rest of the academic year.
Phone Maintenance – 12/29/25
On December 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., there may be interruptions in phone system
connectivity while updates are performed.
Network Maintenance – 12/29/25 to 12/31/25
Between December 29 and December 31, those on campus and in closed buildings may experience intermittent
15-minute interruptions in network connectivity (Wi-Fi and wired connections) while
updates are made to the infrastructure in our buildings.
Server Maintenance – 12/27/25 & 12/28/25
On December 27 and December 28, various campus-hosted servers will be unavailable
from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. This will not affect access to Banner, OASIS, email, authentication,
and farmingdale.edu.
The IT Service Desk will be available via phone and email during the break between
8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., except on December 25 & January 1.
