Winter Break Reminders
To Faculty and Staff:
As winter recess approaches, please take a moment to review the following reminders
before you leave for
the holiday break:
- Campus buildings will be closed the evening of Friday, December 20, 2024 through Wednesday,
January 1, 2025. Be sure to take any personal items or work materials you may need during the break
when you leave campus on December 20, as you will be unable to access your office
during this period.
- To maximize our energy savings during this time, please ensure that all windows in
your office and other work areas are closed.
- As a matter of computer security, as well as additional energy savings, please shut
down computers and printers.
- Please be sure office doors are locked and lights are turned off.
For essential employees working on campus, please be advised that Capital Planning
and Facilities Operations will continue to work on various projects across the campus
during the break.
In addition, Information Technology will perform multiple updates to IT systems and
our network during the break. These updates will enhance and protect our systems and
ensure continued performance throughout the rest of the academic year.
Network Maintenance – 12/21/24
On December 21, network firewall maintenance will be performed. During the hours of
10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., there may be short interruptions in connectivity while security
updates are performed.
Network Maintenance – 12/26/24 to 12/31/24
Between December 26 and December 31, those on campus and in closed buildings may experience
intermittent 15-minute interruptions in network connectivity (Wi-Fi and wired connections)
while updates are made to the infrastructure in our buildings.
Server Maintenance – 12/28/24
On December 28, various campus-hosted servers will be unavailable from 9:00 p.m. to
3:00 a.m. This will not affect access to Banner, OASIS, email, authentication, and
farmingdale.edu.
The IT Service Desk will be available via phone and email during the break between
8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., except on December 25 & January 1.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in preparing for the winter recess. Enjoy the holiday season!
