Natural Gas Technician Certificate Program

Farmingdale State College (SUNY) has partnered with National Grid to offer a Natural Gas Bootcamp certificate program. This 6-week program is targeted towards individuals seeking career opportunities in the growing natural gas industry.

If you are interested in this program you must successfully complete the Energy Industry Fundamentals (EIF) course. This builds on the Energy Industry Fundamentals credential, serves as an introduction to the Natural Gas Industry and will expose you to the job tasks, work methods and safety practices utilized by various workforce positions in gas construction, maintenance, and customer service. All classes will be taught at the National Grid Melville Learning Center by highly experienced gas industry instructors. The program runs 2 nights a week and one (1) Saturday per month totaling 48 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on practice in state-of-the-art laboratories, and outdoor gas training simulation areas using actual tools of the trade.

*The class size of each session is limited to 12.*

According to the Northeast Gas Association (www.northeastgas.org), natural gas is now the leading home heating fuel in the Northeast. The potential growth in the region is over 33 million new customers. In addition to the new growth, accelerated infrastructure enhancements, and workforce retirements are creating  a demand to accelerate hiring new employees into the industry.
