Learning to install Ground-Source Heat Pump (GSHP) systems will keep you competitive in a market forced to deal with rising energy costs and resource depletion. Installer accreditation enables you to open new markets and offers customers a low-maintenance, economical, and environmentally friendly alternative for their space conditioning needs. With more than 30 years of experience teaching these workshops, accrediting thousands of installers, and developing the industry standards, IGSHPA has maintained close ties with Oklahoma State University, and pioneered training in GSHP installation.

Who should attend?

The three day comprehensive Installation Workshops are designed for GSHP installers, contractors, dealers, home builders, manufacturers, distributors, architects, heating cooling mechanical engineers, trench/water well drilling contractors, and anyone who desires a working knowledge of this innovative technology. Representatives from public utilities, and rural electric cooperatives can also benefit from training. Information gathered from the workshops can help utility representatives serve as a source of information regarding money-saving concepts.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the workshop and passing the IGSHPA installer's exam, you will be issued IGSHPA accreditation as an installer of GSHP systems. You will receive an installer's card and a certificate for 3 years. Also you will receive a 1 year membership with IGSHPA after you have completed all the requirements of the Installation Workshop.

Course details:

  • Instructor: Garen Ewbank CEM, CGD, CRM, CEA, CBEP, CSDP

Garen developed the in situ thermal conductivity testing methodology used by the GSHP industry to size and design ground heat exchangers (GHEX). Garen is co-owner of the patented Advanced Thermal Conductivity Method (ACTM) that shortens the testing duration and quantifies the diffusivity. Garen has installed GHEXs throughout the U.S. and consulted throughout the world on GHEXs. Garen has been a primary investigator/collaborator on numerous applied research projects on the GHEX, borehole resistance and thermal storage, Garen has peer reviewed several software applications to size and design the GHEX. Garen trains for IGSHPA in all courses domestically and internationally.

Garen is managing member of Ewbank Geo Testing, LLC, member of GeoAire International and at large managing member for The GreyEdge Group, LLC.

 

 

Cost:

$900. For residents and businesses located on Long Island, $400 (PSEG subsidy).


Accolades:

This workshop offers 24 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for Professional Engineers and Architects or equivalent Professional Development Elective (PDE) hours may be obtained for Code Professional Officials

Participants will also have the ability to receive a Microcredential/Digital Badge at the successful completion of this workshop
