Jenna Giliberti Named SUNY DIII Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year, First in FSC History
ALBANY | The State University of New York (SUNY) announced its overall men's and women's Scholar Athletes of the Year for the 2023-24
Academic Year and Farmingdale State softball right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) has been selected as the Division III Women's Scholar Athlete of
the Year.
This marks the first time in school history that a Farmingdale State College student-athlete
earned SUNY's overall Scholar Athlete of the Year honor. Giliberti was chosen among
21 Division III SUNY schools as the sole female recipient of the award.
The SUNY Scholar Athlete Award recognizes student-athletes who excel academically,
while also achieving success in athletic competition. Nominees are selected based
on their cumulative grade point average, current and career statistics, and athletic
and academic honors. Each year just two student-athletes from each division are selected
as the overall men's and women's winners among 29 sports.
Giliberti, an applied psychology major with an outstanding 3.87 grade-point average,
was named the 2024 Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Year, First-Team NFCA All-Region
and Third-Team Academic All-American -- only the third in Farmingdale State College
Athletics history to receive this distinction. She recorded 61 hits (2nd most in FSC
history) and tallied a batting average of .439 with 48 runs, 24 extra-base hits and
26 stolen bases while holding a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in right field.
Giliberti ranks among the school's all-time leaders with the fifth-highest career
batting average (.424), slugging percentage (.630) and runs scored (131), and her
55 stolen bases are second in program history.
