Poet Ann Giard-Chase will read from her collected works at Farmingdale State College on Thursday, February 23. The reading will be held in the Great Room at Ward Hall at 11 a.m. The public is invited and the event is free.
Giard-Chase was a 2015 runner-up in the Paumanok Poetry Award competition, an international award judged by faculty in Farmingdale's English/Humanities department.
Giard-Chase holds three undergraduate degrees, an MS in Administration, and is a human resources director for a New York State municipality. Recent creative accomplishments include being shortlisted for the 2015 Montreal International Poetry Prize; publication in the 2015 Global Poetry Anthology; and Artist's Choice winner of the Rattle Ekphrastic Challenge. Her poems have appeared in publications including the Onion River Review. Her current projects include a collection of poems, The Stone Boat.
Farmingdale's Visiting Writers Program has featured readings by more than 150 American and international authors. The program highlights the importance of literature to education and culture.
